Disaster Management

The Revenue Department (Disaster Management) is the Nodal Department for Disaster Management in the State with a mandate to look after the matters related to disaster response and relief, disaster risk reduction (DRR) through mitigation and preparedness measures. The Department coordinates with Ministry of Home Affairs, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Armed Forces, concerned State Government Departments for effective disaster response and relief. The Department is responsible for legislation, policy, capacity building, prevention, mitigation, and response. The Government of India enacted the Disaster Management Act 2005, which provided a legal and institutional framework at National, State and District levels for the creation of specialized disasters management institutions. In pursuance of the Act, the Department has established State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), State Executive Committee (SEC) at State level and District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs) at District level.

Stamps & Registration

The Department of Stamps & Registration is the third highest revenue generating department for the Government of Karnataka with a revenue collection of Rs 11451.05 Crores in the year 2019-20. Total Documents Registered is around 19.57 lakhs. The Department of Stamps and Registration is the custodian of registered public records such as Register of Marriages and Firms, Documents pertaining to transactions namely sale, transfer or gift of immovable properties, Mortgage, Power of Attorneys, wills and many more. Some of the oldest records date back to 1865.

Directorate of Social Security and Pension

Government of Karnataka is implementing various social security schemes to provide monthly financial assistance to aged, destitute widows, physically challenged, divorced/unmarried women, transgenders, acid victims and various other socially and financially deprived citizens. The Directorate of Social Security and Pensions was created under the Revenue Department as per the Government Order No: RD 44 MST 2007 Dated: 08-05-2007 to implement these schemes work even better. The Tahsildar / Deputy Tahsildar of the Revenue Department are the Sanctioning officers and the Deputy Commissioner and Regional Commissioner of the Revenue Department are the Monitoring Authority.
